Plumbers: who can show the work

For plumbers, the best proof is a record of jobs: permits filed with the county and customers reviewing the business over the years. Pick a city.

Proof to ask for before you hire

  1. Look up their permits

Search the company name on the county or city permit portal. Recent permits that closed with a passed inspection are the clearest proof of real work.

  2. Read reviews by date, not by average

Look at the last three months on two sites. A steady flow over years says more than a high score.

  3. Match the license to the contract

The license holder on the state lookup should be the company on your contract.

  4. Ask for two recent job addresses

Match them to permits, or ask to speak to those customers. Photos alone don't show whose work it was.
